Dark And Lovely

Dark and Lovely is what you have to be !

Or thin and blonde !
Your hair should be straight no matter what the color of your skin.

At the end of  many a road  you will be remebered of this fact,
like here in Church Street in Quigney

so that you do not forget what the world wants.

Around The Old Belcrave Hotel

If the Belcrave had a once more galmourous and luxurious past I do not know. I am not sure if part of the letter " G" in the name is missing because this building borders the suburb Belgravia. Or if  BELCRAVE  is the original name. The buildings at this street-corner fascninate me through their faded color, large balconies and eclectic appeareance.

They are situated on a corner of Oxfordstreet in Belgravia. Today the shops on the ground floor host a buy and sell, a beauty and hair salon as well as a second hand shop which I have the habit of visting from time to time.

I know that some East Londoners are faithful readers of this blog which I really appreciate. In case you have not realized it, you can leave comments on the blog. Under each post you will find the option " comments". By clicking on comments you will be led to a comment form which is also open now for readers who are not registered on blogger. One of the propositions that I have received was to enable leaving comments for readers who are not on blogger.
If you like something, have an idea or if you know something about a building or a place that would complement a post please do not hesitate to comment. Comments and interaction are welcome !

The OK Beauty Salon

A visit is gonna make you feel really OK.

Men At Work

Men at Work can sometimes be a scary thing to watch.

I had this thought for the first time when I saw my father cutting the garden hedge with an electric chain saw.

And I was offered many occasions since then to re-think this thought and ponder on it deeply.

Admittedly the neon brights safety ropes can not be overlooked and they are nicely criss crossing each other. They men seem all to be attached. The question is just to what are they attached ? I guess to each other. But the end of the rope .. ?

The one who was left on the bottom seems to have similar thoughts or he has his own serious topics to meditate on.

A Family Of Four

Which location you consider to be safe and convenient to set up home and raise your children depends entirely on the perception of the parents.

This shelf in front of my workshop was choosen as the ideal nesting place by a young Cape Robin couple. They made their home in between the retro lampshade, the wooden jaguar scluptures, the glass jar with paintbrushes and an oil painting.
And no, I can not explain  to you why these things are there and no, they are not in a specific order. I just noticed the complexity of the scenario myself when I took the pictures. But this is what happens in an artists life. If  I use them ? I will. Soon. Now that I have seen them again.

Food is close by

Very close
and in abundance

The inside of the nest has been upholstered with feathers that my chicken have lost. It looks a bit messy like any young couple's home but it could not be more comfortable.

And no doubt life has changed forever. Especially for him. Having children is not a bit as you imagined it. Rather hard work with two mouths to feed.

Sunday Walk At Bonzas

Bonza Bay is a romantic, little bit wild and rough beach.
Sunday morning it made me feel like walking.

Fat Seagulls having a nap close to the shore. Sea birds are definitely some of the wildest creatures on earth. Make no mistake these two are only in idle mood and they are having a lazy moment.
True, a lion got wildness - but a seagull flying foamy spray in stormy weather.

No life- savers anymore at this time of the year.Winter, is it really winter ?
The day was so warm and there was hardly any wind.

And these fine flip flops are definitely made for walking.

Turning my back on the gold old lifesavers shack and having all the time to walk, walk and take pictures.

Does this picture has feeling ?
Does it bring to you the feeling of that great day and how happy these guys were playing soccer next to the waves.

Preparing for the world cup 2010..........

It' s a rocky beach and this beautiful bench was made for me to rest and INHALE.

Everybody was happy and in his own little world.

Feeling good to be alone in his world for a while

The sea was foamy. You know that the foam on the sea is the remains of dead mermaids. That's how they die, they still drift for a while on the surface of the sea as foam before disappearing. Hans Christian Anderson has told us all about this and he must have been right because you don't see the foam every day. I have always sort of liked this thought.

Stretching out like this along the shore must feel good

The rocks shape pools in which the water is so clear and heated up from the sun.
They serve one purpose- to lay naked in them.
I guess I have been caught a couple of times now so I am taking it a little bit slow. But I can recommend it. And do change beaches frequently when doing it.

The stones in the pools are slippery and nice to touch.

Everything else is just energizing end empowering

On my way back I sit on my bench looking back at the boardwalk and the very very blue sky.
A sky like in the south of France in hot August.

And smell the sea

and look at new art

efore going home to make a fire, get the meat out and open a bottle of Fleur du Cap Chardonnay.
