NATURES ARCHITECT

A small ring of grass woven around my telephone line is the start of a beautiful home.

actually exactly in the middle of the phone cable with equal distances to both sides

created by a weaver bird in only two days

but not yet ready for his companion to inspect

SPOTLIGHT ON A WHITE CORAL

A while ago I found a huge white coral piece on the beach.
One that would usually be exposed in a museum. It graces now my sideboard.
This picture was made using a technique called TTV - whereby a picture is taken with a digital camera  through the viewfinder of an old film camera.

BEACH STONES

Most of my work is nature related. I have a great passion for nature, aboriginal art and anything that comes from the earth. In my child-hood I was strongly influenced by my uncle who was a professor in chemistry. He introduced me at an early age already to a microscope and taught me to look closer at things.

I am fascinated by the composition and structure of antique natural history specimen photos or prints and many of my prints reflect this attraction.

This print is called " there is someone hidden inside ". The title originates from a poem of Rumi and I specifically love the subtle shades of blue and grey.

Both prints are available at: Chocolat Negro Photography

SUMMER CUPCAKES

And since it is summer now - there is nothing better than true summer cupcakes.

FRESH FROM THE BUSH

Here they are - our six tiny brand new guinea fowl chicks.

And there is always the one who is not afraid. No matter what.

The First Ray Of Light

And this is one of my latest photos called the first ray of Light.

FOREST GIFTS

Summer is definitely here. Even if it is windy and stormy and the sea is cold.
There are all the signs of summers abundance around us. Not only moths, birds, bees and butterflies but also some delicious looking gifts from the forest.

The most beautiful thing to look at - and the most difficult to photograph.
Get a peak under the umbrella of a summer mushroom.

The golden warm color is so inviting. And the white flesh smelling of forest and moss. With pasta and garlic. Yummy.

If I just knew which ones to cook.

NIGHT JASMINE

True Green

After a very unusual rainy and stormy beginning of summer

The most amazing creatures can be found outside in the garden

like this green moth camouflaged as a green leaf in decay

Green is the color of my true love getting comfortable on my finger
and making my skin itchy.

CARNIVAL DREAM AT THE BEACHFRONT

Every year

the same old beautiful Carnival Christmas Dream

with the big wheels and carousels of yesteryear

POM-POM and PING-PONG

PING -PONG

Ping Pong was originally sold and bought as a hen.
And one has to say to my justification that it took a while to find out that he was not a such.

because of his complete refusal to behave like a rooster.

She was baptized POM -POM because of her extravagant hairstyle that needs Salon equipment to stay in place.

Together they are simply called the Polish after their country of birth.

A Very Angry Look In My Direction

I received a very angry and fierce look from this huge crab who had made himself a home under the wood pile.

After the heavy rain these crabs are to be found all over the garden.

Obviously completely dis-pleased with my decision to make a barbecue.

He held onto his log with all his might.

Little Kingfisher

I love this little kingfisher bird very much. It has such a philosophical expression.
I have seen it from time to time in my garden.
And after looking out for it for a while I got lucky - and was in the right place at the right time.
It's favorite place is on my telephone wire.

Or in the old Flamboyant tree.

FLOWER BALLS

Very beautiful but considered alien and invasive in SOUTH AFRICA.

The Blue Sky And Me

I love these two photos so much!
Without really being aware of it I have created images that have a 3D perspective.

The coral trees were in full blossom. The nectar of the bright orange flowers made the perfect late-afternoon snack for a black sun bird.

I have often wondered if I could choose any form of life what I would like to be ? What form of life would I like to experience?
Would I like to be a bird? Sometimes it seems that they are so much more vulnerable than other creatures and their life is shorter.
But the experience of freedom must be immense.

Plumbago

Plumbago, an indigenous South African flower.
Like everything and anything, that is downplaying it's beauty it is of incredible infatuation.

RAVEN HAIR

Makes me want to have hair like like this

long as Rapunzel's

and of the deepest darkest raven black

MIDNIGHT RAVEN BLACK

Not really a Raven - he or she is called a glossy starling but everything about it is raven like. Mysterious, beautiful and darkish.

EVOLUTION

Saw this the other day in my winter green pool.
A future mossy.

BIRDS OF STORM

Birds of storm like it when the waves are high and foamy

and when the sea is angry.
