A man and the sea

The boardwalk in Gonubie, a small village, outside East London.

The long-haired man and the sea.
He was fishing peacefully on the rocks.

Surfers at the point...

Clean waves,
ideal surfing weather that day

And one of the nicest beaches

In the far distance the tip of East London is visible

A bed & breakfast on the hill overlooking the sea.

The bench on which one should read again " the old man and the sea ".

And my good ol' friend and me driving home again along the coast.

Chocolat Negro Jewelery

Some of my necklaces............ made of shells and abalone pieces and old vintage beads.

and what inspires them.

My Grandmother's Apple Pie

My grandmother's apple was not too sweet nor too soft.
It had the right consistency with apples aligned like solders in rows.
Raisins and almonds were found occasionally in between them to loosen up the picture.
My grandmother's apple pie was huge and usually not a trace could be found of it within a couple of hours.
I'm in love with change.
But some things should always stay the same, like the apple pies you are used to.

The beauty of one hundred years ago

In the year 1900 the world exposition was held in Paris in France.

I started doing a little bit of research on this subject lately. I was motivated by a rare find that I had made. Six 109 years old so called tobacco-cards found their way into my life.

" Cigarettes Melia " produced a series of tobacco-cards at the occasion of the world exposition in Paris in 1900, that were included in the paquets that were sold at the exposition.

These cards were graced by beautiful women.

The Melia cigarettes collection had 1800 different topics.

This is the back of the cards -and they are truly from 1900. To look at the faces of these women, considered very beautiful at their time gives me a strange feeling. They look so lively, so close - amd yet their were probably 20 years old a hundred and nine years back. At a time when my grandmother was not even born.

To become a better person

I have taken hundreds of photos of Lucinda Engele. For a stranger this might seem weird.
But if you see a creature that is good, natural and soft right down into it's essence and soul- then it is a pleasure to look again and again. And it is good to look again and again because as time elapses you become a better and softer human being yourself.

She never leaves me and she is never far. Animals are good for your soul because if they want to they force you to connect with them.

She is a sun godess.

We watch the rock dassies and the birds in the garden - together. I see them through her eyes as something exciting. To become a better and softer person stay with animals. If people can't they can open your heart.

When we work, then we work together strechted out on my desk. At least Lucinda. You would not wanna see me do that.

I think of all people she loves me the most - has to be like that.

This is a new game. Hiding in the old stone basin where the dirty pots from the kitchen where washed in front of the" old servants quarters".

A game we can play for hours

Until we are distracted

After playing with an empty Schweppes Soda water bottle - thank God the grass is so green and high for a nap.......

This was how the sky looked yesterday before a massive thunderstorm came in the late afternoon after a boiling hot day.
