There Is My Life

There is my life and you can still see me as I was.
This was my life
This was the form of this one life.

This print is part of a series called " Your Paler Face " that I have been working on for more than two years and that tries to portrait the transition from life through death to another level of existence. This is one of the first prints of this series that I have taken. When death sets in, a certain paleness appears in each and every creature be it human, animal or plant. Paleness, as I mean it, has to be understood also in a symbolic way.The spirit leaves the form and the form gets paler but retains it beauty for a while. This is a sad, delicate and scary moment often.

I Have Found My Place

The colors have not been changed or altered in this picture. The dried out shell of the crayfish had become what I call a mystical purple.

THE HUNG UP CRAB

He was still complete, no arms and legs or other body parts missing.!

The Alien Crab

Today everything is about crabs. There are days when the sea spits them out in great number and varieties and you can find them just like that on the beach

A LOST MEMORY

This picture reminds me of something I don't even know what it could be ! It  feels like looking at a lost memory of something that happened earlier and not in this life and that I can not retrieve at this moment. It feels like tapping into the collective memory.

THE SKY WAS BLUE

The sky was so blue

when he came along

with a fiery red tail

to ride the wind like a wild horse in the West

shameless with no fear and no mercy
until justice was done

cause he was only a kite all on his own

SURF'S UP

This is my favorite surfing spot

and one of the best in South Africa - Nahoon Beach
Right in front of my door !

the beach break has softer more gentle waves

and yesterday was a perfect day

with warm water and no wind

intense and bright colors

when you start young most things are easy

In the back  the Nahoon Reef is visible - that is for the ones who really know what they are doing.
And I don't count myself amongst them

but there is space and place for everybody who loves the sea

ALONE WITH THE SEA

This is what a poem looks like in pictures.

Just me

all alone

with the sea

and may be a child with me.

Seagulls In Sepia

She just found a fish-head that a fisherman had discarded. Indeed a delicious meal on a great day.

TENDERNESS

This image is called tenderness because it evokes the same emotion in me.
